The Business of the month for October is: Rosetown Publishing!!!
The Rosetown Eagle is the oldest business in Rosetown. The first edition came out on December 2, 1909. It has been a staple in most local homes since then, even in those of people who have left town. The name “Rosetown Eagle” came from Eagle Creek, named because of the large number of eagles in the area in the early days. The first owner was C. W. Holmes. The last local owner was Danny Page and his wife Pat who sold it in 2006 to Jamac Publishing Ltd of Kindersley, Jamac also owns the West Central Cross Roads, Kindersley Clarion, Leader News, Macklin Mirror and the Eston-Elrose Press Review. The Rosetown Eagle is not only a newspaper office, it is also a stationery store where people can buy their office supplies and parents can buy school supplies for their kids. The editor is Ian MacKay and our sports writer is David “Scoop” McIver who can be seen at most sports event. Loretta Torrance is our advertising sales rep and Simone Gaudet takes care of retail and accounts payable and receivable. We love to visit, so drop by and say “hi.”
Putting business issues and solutions in front of decision-makers and the public, the Rosetown Chamber of Commerce is the “Voice of Business in Rosetown”. We strive to ignite constructive change for Rosetown and area's business community with regard to government policy, regulation and other barriers to economic growth. Top quality research provides the cornerstone necessary to build support for and enable the adoption of these ideas.
